Eagle Ridge New Tech High School Students Showcase Research and Creativity During 8th Grade ELA Gallery Walk

Students at Eagle Ridge New Tech High School recently participated in an 8th Grade English Language Arts Gallery Walk.

Students in Eagle Ridge New Tech instructor Natalie Carpenter's class completed a four-week project-based learning unit centered on psychopomps, figures from world mythologies who guide souls to the afterlife. Throughout the unit, students conducted library research using credible primary and secondary sources, analyzed symbolism across cultures, and developed both analytical and creative writing skills.

During the Gallery Walk, each student:
• Delivered a prepared one-minute academic speech
• Showcased a hands-on visual representation of a researched psychopomp
• Presented an original fictional narrative featuring a psychopomp they created

As a CTE campus, students incorporated craftsmanship and fabrication skills into their visuals, including wood burning, sculptural builds, and mixed-media designs. Guests engaged students by asking questions about research accuracy, symbolism, and creative choices, creating an authentic presentation experience.

The event demonstrated interdisciplinary learning, public speaking skills, research literacy, and creative expression, all within a culturally rich academic framework.

Here are several photos from the event that capture student presentations, detailed craftsmanship, and community engagement.

ThoughtExchange About Naming Track at Modoc Field

Klamath Falls City Schools would like your input in a ThoughtExchange asking:

As we consider the future of Modoc Field, what are your thoughts on the proposal to name the Klamath Union High School track in honor of longtime coach and teacher Ken Coffman, and what impact do you feel his legacy has had on our community?

To clarify, KFCS is seeking input on naming the track only. Modoc Field itself will not be renamed.

Cold and Flu Information

Cold and flu season is here ... please help us prevent the spread of viruses by doing these things at home, school, and work.

Steps you can take

Individuals can

• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw used tissues in the trash. If you don't have a tissue, cough or sneeze into your elbow, not your hands.

• Learn and use proper handwashing technique.

• Teach children the correct way to wash their hands.

• Clean frequently touched surfaces, such as countertops, handrails, and doorknobs regularly.

Information presented comes from the Center of Disease Control. Click this link for more information.
