A note from the Superintendent KFCS Staff, Students and Parents,
Flu season is upon us. I just wanted take a moment to remind everyone about the importance of hand washing. As we enter the peak of flu season, we want to share a simple but powerful reminder: the best defense is in your hands.
Washing your hands is the single most effective way to prevent the spread of respiratory illnesses. Throughout the day, we touch countless surfaces, doorknobs, keyboards, and handrails, that can harbor viruses for hours. A quick scrub can be the difference between staying healthy and falling ill. To protect yourself and those around you, please remember the "Gold Standard" of hand hygiene:
Wet your hands with clean, running water. Lather with soap, getting the backs of your hands, between fingers, and under nails. Scrub for at least 20 seconds (the time it takes to hum "Happy Birthday" twice or your ABC’s once). Rinse well and Dry with a clean towel or air dryer.
|
By taking these 20 seconds, you aren't just protecting yourself; you are protecting our most vulnerable neighbors, including infants and the elderly. If soap and water aren't available, using a hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol is a great second choice. Let’s work together to keep our schools, workplaces, and homes flu-free this year. Stay healthy, Keith A. Brown
